Tippit MS PTA

Every Child. One Voice.
Nominating Committee

Your Tippit PTA thanks you for all you have given to the students at Tippit.  It is that time of year when we are forming new Boards for the PTA.  We need you and or your help finding people to step up and take a turn!  Many of our current Board members are graduating to the next level, or have served their term and are looking at other positions to fill on the PTA Board.
I am currently heading the Nominating Committee for Tippit PTA and would love your feedback and suggestions for potential Board members!  Mr. Cantu is the best to work with, our volunteers pool together to achieve wonderful things, and we have fun!!!  Now is the time to be involved and stay engaged with our teenagers at school.

If you are a graduating 8th grade parent, I would like to remind you of the opportunities at the High School and Ninth grade campus with the PTSA.  If you would like to get involved with the PTSA feel free to contact Maria Baker.

Thanks Again for your committment to our Kids!

2008-2009 REFLECTIONS “WOW” PROGRAM

This year’s PTA Reflections theme was “WOW”!  Students in all the GISD schools were encouraged to showcase their creativity in Arts, Literature, Music, Dance, Film, Video, and Photography. We were very excited about the percentage of GISD students participation this year. The entries have been reviewed and judged at the council level and the top 10% entries will now move on to the state level.

This year the judging changed.  In previous years, GISD entries were judged at the Council level where a specific percentage advanced to the Area level. Then, a select few entries made it to the State level.  This year, after the judging process was completed at the council level, the GISD Council of PTA’s sent the top 10% of qualifying entries, (a total of 24 entries with 3 entries from Middle School level), directly to the State level.  These winners will be announced at a future date.  The other entries will receive special recognition award ribbons and certificates on Tuesday, January 27, at 6:30 p.m. at the Ninth Grade Center Theater.  There are a total of 45 GISD student entries set to recieve Honorable Mention Awards, 5 from the Middle School level, and 147 Participation Awards, with 20 from the Middle School level.

We are very proud to announce that we have 4 Tippit students set to receive special recognition awards at the Reflections Ceremony on Tuesday, January 27, 2009.  Jon Andrews, a 7th grader, will receive an Honorable Mention Award for his Visual Arts Entry.  Jorge Espinoza, a 6th grader, Caitlin Vercolen, a 7th grader, and Samantha Barton, an 8th grader, will all receive Participation Awards for their Literature Entries.  WELL DONE TIPPIT STUDENTS!!!

We want to let all the participating students know how PROUD we are of all of them.  GOOD JOB!!!!

Born to Run
Tippit will be participating in an exciting new fitness program called “Born to Run”. Designed by the folks at RunTex and supported by the GISD Council of PTAs and the GISD Board of Directors, the 12-week program will take you from lying on the couch to finishing a 5K race next spring! Students and their parents alike are encouraged to participate and set their sights on the “Get GT Fit 5K / 1K Run, Walk or Roll” on March 7th, 2009. Stay tuned for more details and start thinking fit!
